The UN has gotten together to stop further genocides and strengthen their responses. The official definition of genocide is,"any act committed "with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group," (Salk, 2015). Although Raphael Lemkin, hoped that the invention and discovery of this word, would stop further genocides by making it a crime, he wasn't able to stop all genocides. Even after WWII, sixteen million people were killed in international conflict, and 3.5 million were killed in wars (Salk, 2015). The video below on the left side, is about the South of Sudan and how it's been affected by the war, ("Sudan: Fight for the heart," 2011). The video below on the right side, is about the North of Sudan and how the people don't want to lose their culture or basis of life, ("Sudan: Fight for the soul," 2011).
